Most college-aged survivors of sexual assault first turn to their friends and family for help. This workshop teaches concrete skills and strategies college students can use to support a friend who has been a victim of sexual assault or dating violence.
ListenWIse is designed for audiences of people and is facilitated by trained UHS peer educators. This workshop focuses on dating and healthy relationships in college. Using a mix of self-reflection and group discussion, students will explore their own ideas about what characteristics they find important in dating relationships and learn to identify red flags of dating violence. DatingWIse is designed for audiences of people and is facilitated by trained UHS peer educators. In a supportive environment, participants will learn about resources both on and off campus, have time to explore their own ideas, as well as learn strengths-based strategies for thriving and surviving at the UW.

Email violenceprevention uhs. Since Fallall incoming first-year and transfer students have been required to participate in a two-part violence prevention program. This effort is in response to the AAU Climate Survey on Sexual Assault and Sexual Misconduct recommendations based on input from UW-Madison students and leaders across campus and aspires to further empower incoming students with information, skills, and empathy to help prevent sexual assault and dating violence as part of the UW-Madison community.
UW-Madison takes sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking very seriously and expects all of our students to do the same. Additionally, sexual assault and dating violence are violations of the University of Wisconsin System student code of conduct and against the law.
In addition, other pre-approved one-time events may be added to the SignUpGenius list. Workshops such as Badgers Step Up! There are several options available to students taking part in the workshops, depending on theme. DatingWIse focuses on dating and healthy relationships in college, including creating and maintaining healthy boundaries, communication and conflict, and signs of abuse in intimate relationships.

Nearly 10 percent of UW-Madison students reported experiencing physical, emotional, and/or sexual abuse by a dating partner in the past 12 months. The workshops are 90 minutes. It is recommended that you arrive at the workshop location approximately minutes before the start time in order to keep your reserved place.
All attendees must stay for the entire duration of the workshop in order for their attendance to be counted. If you live in University Housing, your House Fellow should also be able to tell you about upcoming workshops.
Each GetWIse workshop consists of three to four guided, discussion-based activities.
